Do your kids do them? Mine don’t, I meant not usually, and definitely not consistently. So I’ve been asking everyone I encounter if their kids do chores. Most people answer “No, not really.” I may be wrong but it almost feels as if kids nowadays don’t do chores anymore, at least not consistently.
Recently as my kids get a little older and things get a little busier I would like to enlist their help. Not only that but I would like to give them the satisfaction of helping out around the house. I always That being said I think we should all also be doing chores and accomplishing tasks together. I think the end result would be a more satisfying feeling of team accomplishment when all chores are said and done.
The first thing I am trying is an app. Yup an app. It doesn’t surprise me in the least because after all my kids love their IPads and they found the app. It has been in effect for only a week so it’s hard to tell if it is effective or still just very novel and exciting. That being said my son was diligent about most his chores on most days so far, my daughter is hit and miss but my daughter is also the one who does chores if simply asked.
Chore monster offers a platform to create chores for your children and assign each chore a point value. After you create chores you also create or select from suggested rewards to be exchanged for the points earned from doing chores. My son’s favorite incentive is the cash incentive (2 bucks for 25 points) and my daughter is collecting her points to exchange for bake night.
I would love to hear how you implement chores and what has been most effective for you. Drop me a line or many by leaving comments below or y email at firstname.lastname@example.org I’ll keep you posted on this end.
All the love,
